MULTIPLE GRASS FIRE CALLS, POWERLINE POLE FIRES OVER WEEKEND FOR BRENHAM FD

  

The Brenham Fire Department responded to 12 calls over the weekend.

Shortly after 10:15 a.m. Saturday, members of the Brenham Fire Department and Berlin Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a grass fire in the 7400 block of Hummingbird Road.  Firefighters extinguished the grass fire and returned to service.

Close to 1 p.m., units from the Brenham Fire Department and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire in the 12600 block of FM 1371.  They put out the grass fire and cleared the call.

Shortly after 2 p.m., another grass fire was called in from the 2900 block of Tigerpoint Road.  The Brenham Fire Department extinguished the fire.

Nearing 2:15 p.m., BFD members went out to the 2900 block of Twisted Oak Drive for a gas odor/leak.  They stood by until the City of Brenham Gas Department made location.

Also around 2:15 p.m., firefighters were dispatched for a report of a grass fire on Spreen Road, but upon arrival, they found it was a prescribed burn.

At 6 p.m., units were called out for a car fire in the 2500 block of South Day Street.  They found a small vehicle on fire and put out the fire.

Just after midnight Sunday, firefighters responded for a rescue in the 10800 block of FM 2780.  They extricated one patient out of a vehicle that was on its passenger side.  No information was available on the patient. 

Around 10 a.m., the department was dispatched for an electrical emergency in the 1600 block of Highway 290 West.  Firefighters found a powerline pole on fire and stood by until Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative made the location and released them from the call. 

Another electrical emergency was reported a few minutes after 10:15 a.m., in the 2100 block of FM 389.  Units discovered a powerline pole on fire and waited for Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative to arrive.

Just past 10:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a crash in the 1800 block of Pecan Circle Drive.  They found a one-vehicle accident in the parking lot and, after checking the vehicle, were released by Brenham police.

Close to 10:45 a.m., another crash was called in from Highway 290 at Old Mill Creek Road.  Units from the Brenham Fire Department and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department found a two-vehicle accident on the shoulder.  No action was taken.

Approaching 5 p.m., firefighters were dispatched for a rescue call in the 1000 block of Nolan Street.  They made location to find a child locked in a vehicle, so they unlocked the vehicle and checked on the child, who was okay.
