FAITH MISSION SMART-CARE KIDS AND B-FAMOUS PROGRAMS GO INTERNATIONAL
Two of the Faith Mission’s youth mentoring programs are getting some international flavor courtesy of Blinn College athletes.
The SMART-CARE Kids Program, and the B-FAMOUS, which stands for Blinn Football and Athletics Mentoring Others for Ultimate Success, began in the Spring of 2022.
The goal of the partnership is to provide additional support to the students from Brenham ISD participating in the SMART-CARE program.
This year, there is a special cultural component with the students having mentors from various countries including Japan, Costa Rica, and England.
As part of the curriculum, the kids participating in the program practice speaking Spanish, Swahili, Japanese, and Vietnamese.
Blinn College scholar-athletes from the Women’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer, and Football Teams provide community service Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm-5:30pm.
Faith Mission Executive Director, Rev. Randy Wells, said, “The scholar-athletes are such amazing role models for the kids, and it’s a blessing that while they are mentoring, they get a chance to develop life-skills and be mentored as well.”
The end of the year program will include an international festival of foods from various countries.
