LA GRANGE ISD CALLS FOR A BOND ELECTION
The La Grange ISD Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to call for a bond election on Saturday, May 2.
According to the school district, if approved by voters, the nearly $90 million proposal will specifically address four areas: safety and security, new construction projects, renovations to existing facilities, and infrastructure upgrades.
The bond proposal was endorsed by the La Grange ISD Facility Planning Committee, which was made up of parents, staff, community members, and business leaders.
Items that are part of the bond proposal include:
Renovation of the 1923 Building, new construction of a classroom wing and cafetorium space at the Middle School, renovations to the High School Science labs, playground upgrades at the Elementary School, covered walkways at the Elementary School and the High School, renovations to the restrooms at the at the Elementary School and the High School, new construction of a multipurpose educational/activity center at the High School with classrooms for Career and Technology Education courses and other district programs, dressing rooms, a weight room, and an indoor area for physical activities, parking and traffic routes, replacement of the intercom system and access control, and the purchase of buses.
The estimated impact on property in La Grange ISD valued at $300,000 would be $49 per month.
The school district added that more details about the projects will soon be available on their website, and a series of informational meetings are going to be scheduled.
