BLINN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS CONFERENCE ROAD GAME TO TRINITY VALLEY

The Blinn College women’s basketball team fell to No. 9 Trinity Valley Community College 66-44 in Region 14 play Saturday in Athens, Texas.

The Buccaneers dropped to 15-10 overall and 5-4 in the region standings.

“We struggled taking care of the ball and hitting shots,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “Our girls are still working and playing hard, and I believe we will figure things out come the Region 14 Tournament.”

The first-place Cardinals led 17-11 after the first period, took a 33-17 cushion into halftime, and carried a 45-33 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore guard Mariah Houston scored a team-high 12 points for the Bucs. Sophomore guards Taylor Spencer and Jasey Campbell followed with nine and eight, respectively.

Blinn gets back to work with a region home bout against Kilgore College at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Kruse Center in Brenham. KWHI will have live coverage on 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.
