PANTHER BASKETBALL ENDS DISTRICT SEASON WITH A WIN OVER SNOOK
The Burton Panther Basketball Team wrapped up the regular season with a 53-51 road win over the Snook Blue Jays.
Burton jumped out to an early lead by outscoring Snook 16-9 in the first quarter. The Blue Jays responded by outscoring the Panthers 12-8 in the second quarter. That cut the Burton lead to 24-21 at halftime.
The third quarter would belong to the Panthers 17-13, which gave them a 41-34 advantage.
Snook closed the gap by taking the fourth quarter 17-12, but Burton would escape with the win.
Kayden Patterson led the way with 19 points. Yobani Brewer was right behind him with 18 points. Jason Gonzalez chipped in with eight points.
Burton winds up with third place in the district, while Snook ends up in fourth place.
Next up, the Panthers are going to open the playoffs with a Bi-District game against Big Sandy on Tuesday at 6pm at New Caney West Fork High School.
