BRENHAM CUBS DROP A PAIR OF GAMES AT LOUISIANA TOURNAMENT
The Brenham Cub Baseball Team dropped a pair of games yesterday (Friday) at the Barbe-Sulphur Tournament in Louisiana.
In the first game of the day, the Cubs lost to the Dutchtown Griffins 10-3. Brenham got on the scoreboard in the second inning with a pair of runs. Owen Finke and Bleu Cienega reached on back-to-back singles. Three batters later, Nate Rau would bring them home on a two-run double, which put the Cubs up 2-0.
Brenham tacked on another run in the top of the third inning. Dalton Hart led it off with a walk, stole second, and stole third. Then, Finke brought him home with an RBI single to put the Cubs up 3-0.
Dutchtown came back with four runs in the bottom of the third inning off of starting pitcher Kyle Curtis to take a 4-3 lead.
The score remained the same until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Griffins came up with six more runs. Errors played a factor in the extra runs for Dutchtown, who increased their lead to 10-3.
Brenham had one more chance in the top of the seventh inning, but they went three up and three down.

In the second game, Brenham lost to Concordia Lutheran 6-0. Concordia Pitcher Ethan Rivers pitched a complete game shutout going seven innings, allowing two hits, three walks, and striking out ten.
Dalton Hart had the only two hits for the Cubs with a single and a double.
Concordia scored once in the second, twice in the third, twice in the fourth and once in the fifth inning.

The Cubs (1-3) will play two more games today (Saturday) at the tournament. They will face Pearl River Central at 10am, 9:35am pregame on KWHI. Brenham will wrap it up at 1pm against Barbe, 12:35pm pregame on KWHI.
