BLINN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL LOSES TO TYLER ON THE ROAD

The Blinn College women’s basketball team dropped a Region 14 contest on Saturday, falling to Tyler Junior College 84-57 in Tyler, Texas.

With the loss, the Buccaneers move to 16-11 overall and 6-5 in Region 14 play.

Blinn trailed 19-9 at the end of the first quarter and faced a 40-24 deficit at halftime. Tyler extended its advantage in the third period and took a 65-42 lead into the fourth quarter.

Sophomore guard Taylor Spencer led the Buccaneers with 14 points. Sophomore forward Cynthia Lecompte added 11 points, while sophomore guard Jaya Gradney contributed 10. Freshman forward Amaya Weathersby chipped in nine points in the effort.

“This was a tough road game for us today,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “We have to learn from this, especially on the defensive end.”

Blinn will look to bounce back when it hosts Panola College in a region matchup at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.
