CUBETTE SOFTBALL SPLITS FINAL TWO GAMES OF THE DRIPPING SPRINGS TOURNAMENT
The Brenham Cubette Softball Team split their final two games of the Dripping Springs Tournament. In their first game of the day, the Cubettes lost to Bridgeland 7-1.
Bridgeland jumped out to an early lead with pair of runs the bottom of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead.
Brenham got their only run in the top of the third inning. Payson Gurka hit a one-out double, and later came around to score on a passed ball to cut the lead to 2-1.
Bridgeland added three runs in the bottom of the third inning, and two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 7-1 advantage, which would turn out to be the final score.

Brenham ended the tournament on a good note with a 13-2 victory over Prosper that was called after four innings.
The Cubettes got on the board in the bottom of the first inning. McKenzie Tiemann led it off with a single. Aldyn Jaks laid down a sacrifice bunt to move her to second. Tiemann would then take third on a passed ball, and then she scored on another passed ball. That gave the Cubettes a 1-0 lead.
Brenham exploded for five runs in the bottom of the second inning. The inning opened Harper Castillo drawing a walk, Jaycee Hegar moving her up with a sacrifice bunt, Ali Tiemann reached on a single. McKenna Marsters followed with a single to score Castillo. Sandra Prieto singled as well, which brought home Ali Tiemann. McKenzie Tiemann then cleared the bases with a three-run homer to increase the lead to 6-0.
The Cubettes tacked on an insurance run as Kylie Baker singled, and then she scored on an RBI double by Hegar. That made it 7-0 Brenham.
Prosper finally put up a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning to cut the Cubette lead to 7-2. However, Brenham scored six more times in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away.
Marsters started the inning with a single, and Prieto bunted her to second. McKenzie Tiemann unloaded a two-run homer to make it 9-2. Jaks walked, stole second, and then scored on an RBI single by Laityn Davis. Baker walked, and Castillo single to load the bases. Hegar drew a bases loaded that brought home Davis. Ali Tiemann hit a two-run double that scored Castillo, and Gurka, who came in to run for Baker. That made it 13-2, which would be the final score.
Laityn Davis picked up the win in the circle giving up just two runs over four innings.
