LADY PANTHERS ADVANCE IN THE PLAYOFFS AFTER A REGION SEMIFINAL WIN OVER HARPER

The Burton Lady Panther Basketball Team lives to play another day after earning a 50-41 victory over the Harper Lady Horns last (Tuesday) night in the Region Semifinals at the Burger Center in Austin.

Harper jumped out to an early advantage and actually led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter. Meanwhile, Burton blew the game open in the second quarter by outscoring the Lady Horns 20-9. That gave the Lady Panthers a 32-22 lead at halftime.

The second half was very close game with Harper outscoring Burton 10-9 in the third quarter and then the two teams each scored nine points in the fourth quarter.

Lexi Broesche led the Lady Panthers with 14 points. Meanwhile, Mya Rodriguez and Harper Hodde each had 12 points, and Aerynn Huntsman finished with 10 points.

With the win, Burton is now 32-5 on the season.

Next up, they are scheduled to play Goldthwaite in the Class 2A Division II Region IV Championship. The game will be Friday at 6pm at Georgetown East View High School.
