THREE GAS ODOR CALLS THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department responded to three calls on Thursday and one early this (Friday) morning.
Nearing 12:30 p.m. Thursday, units were called out to a gas odor at a residence in the 800 block of Burch Street. They found a contractor had hit a gas line and stood by until the leak was capped off.
Another report of a gas odor came in close to 6 p.m. at Grocery Supply Company, 602 West First Street. When firefighters arrived, they found a heater switch accidentally turned on, causing the odor. They turned the switch off and stood by until the City of Brenham Gas Department made location.
Personnel were dispatched to a third gas odor call shortly before 7:15 p.m. at Burleson Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. The fire department stood by until the gas department made location and released firefighters from the scene.
A few minutes after 3:15 a.m. today, units were dispatched to a fire alarm at Prairie Lea Hall, 911 West Fifth Street. They found burnt food in an oven and ventilated the kitchen area before returning to service.
