CITY OF NAVASOTA RECEIVES NEARLY $1 MILLION IN GRANT FUNDS FROM THE STATE
The Texas General Land Office recently awarded more than $15 million in regional mitigation grant funding to support projects that strengthen and fortify communities across the Brazos Valley Region. Grant checks were presented to recipient communities during an award ceremony held at College Station City Hall.
The Texas General Land Office is currently administering $4.3 billion in grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Community Development Block Grant Mitigation and Moderate-Income Disaster Recovery, also known as the MIT MOD program.
Through the MIT MOD program, the City of Navasota has been awarded approximately $996,400 for water and sewer infrastructure improvements.
According to the City, at least 50 percent of the total grant funding must directly benefit low to moderate income families and individuals.
Navasota City Officials will utilize this funding to improve water and sewer infrastructure along Foster Street between Malcolm Street and Highway 379. The project will also include improvements to portions of Louise Street and Levy Street.
In addition to water and sewer line upgrades, the project will include street improvements in the areas involved.
These improvements are designed to enhance system reliability, strengthen infrastructure resilience, and provide long term benefits to residents and businesses in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Additional details regarding project timelines and implementation will be shared as they become available.
