LADY PANTHER SOFTBALL SPLITS GAMES AT FRANKLIN TOURNAMENT

The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team split their games on day two of the Franklin Tournament.

Como-Pickton defeated Burton in their first game of the day 15-3. Laci Broesche took the loss in the circle for the Lady Panthers.

Como-Pickton scored twice in the first inning and three times in the second inning to take an early 5-0 lead.

Burton back in the top of the third. Broesche singled, Natalie Hodde double, and then Amaya Williams it a solo homer to center field, which cut the Como-Pickton lead to 5-3.

However, Como-Pickton put the game away with ten runs in the bottom of the third, which made it 15-3.

Burton bounced back with a 16-6 victory over the Waco Midway JV in the second game. Broesche was the winning pitcher.

The Lady Panthers scored in the first inning as Broesche reached on an error, Hodde singled, and Williams brought them home on a two-run double.

Midway scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to tie it, and one run in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead, 3-2.

The Burton offense exploded with eight runs in the top of the third inning. Hodde walked, and then came in on a two-run homer by Amaya Williams to give the Lady Panthers the lead 4-2.

Paige Fritsch hit a double, Melanie Wood walked, and Haeleah Herrin walked to load the bases. Fritsch scored on a wild pitch. Kara Landriault came in to run for Herrin. On a squeeze bunt by Skylar Unger, Wood scores. Dowling walked to load the bases, and Broesche cleared the bases with a triple. Hodde brought home Broesche on a sacrifice fly to make it 10-3 Burton.

Midway scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 10-6.

Burton managed to manufacture six more runs in the fourth inning to increase their lead to 16-6.
