CITY OF BRENHAM TO TEST EVERBRIDGE EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM FRIDAY

The City of Brenham will conduct a scheduled test on Friday of the Everbridge Emergency Communication System.

At 10 a.m. Friday, residents who are registered with the free Everbridge service will receive a test notification via the contact methods they selected during registration.  The city says the test is part of its ongoing efforts to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of its emergency notification system.

The Everbridge service allows residents to receive emergency and important community alerts via phone, text, email or all three.  The system notifies residents about severe weather, flooding, gas leaks, police activity, and other urgent public safety situations.

For certain alerts, recipients may be asked to confirm receipt of the message.  Confirming helps ensure the system is functioning properly; if a recipient does not confirm, the system may attempt additional contact methods to ensure delivery.

Residents who already have an account are encouraged to log in and verify their contact information is up to date.

Friday’s notification is only a test, and no action is required beyond confirming receipt if prompted.

Those who are interested in registering can sign up by going to www.localevent.info and clicking “Register Now” to create a new account.  They will then follow prompts to verify their phone number or email address and select their preferred contact methods and locations.

Anyone who experiences issues with registration or does not receive a notification can call the city at 979-337-7200.
