ACCUSED DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS IN PRISON

Tyrone Scott (Grimes County Jail)

A Grimes County man was sentenced to a lengthy prison term during the latest session of the 12th District Court.

40-year-old Tyrone Latroy Scott pled guilty to a first-degree felony charge of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

As part of a plea agreement, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison by Judge David Moorman.

According to the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, Scott would have faced an enhanced punishment range at trial due to his prior criminal history.

The charge stems from a May 8, 2025 arrest following a traffic stop.

Navasota Police Officer Evan Peterson pulled over a vehicle on Frazier Street for displaying an expired registration sticker.

Upon making contact with the driver, Officer Peterson reported observing an open alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle, and detected the odor of marijuana.

Scott, who was a front seat passenger, and the other occupants were removed from the vehicle.

After conducting a search, Peterson found baggies containing marijuana, methamphetamine, and Adderall pills in the seat where Scott was sitting.

There was also a digital scale in a bag alongside a check with Scott’s name on it.
