BRENHAM MAIFEST HONORED WITH GOVERNOR’S PROCLAMATION

The Brenham Maifest continued a tradition this week of traveling to Austin for official recognition as the oldest festival in Texas.

The royalty for the 136th Maifest and their family members met with Governor Greg Abbott, who presented a proclamation in honor of the festival and extending wishes for a memorable celebration this year.

The message reads in part, “Since 1881, Maifest has evolved from a simple gathering of neighbors into one of the state’s most cherished celebrations.  Embodying the values of faith, family, and perseverance that would come to define our people, this festival has withstood the test of time with its charm and principles.”

This year’s Maifest celebration is set for the second week of May, beginning with the Kickoff Picnic on Wednesday, May 6th and continuing through Saturday, May 9th
