SPIKE IN GAS PRICES FOR SPRING BREAK
Gas prices have surged heading into Spring Break, amid the continued conflict in the Middle East and its effects on oil and gas supply.
According to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $3.07. That is 48 cents more expensive than a week prior, 58 cents more than a month ago, and 34 cents higher than this time last year.
The average at reporting gas stations in Brenham is $3.05, with a low of $2.80 and a high of $3.30.
Looking at the metropolitan areas in Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $3.29 per gallon, while drivers in the Beaumont-Port Arthur area are spending the least at $2.92.
Nationwide, the average price per gallon of fuel is $3.41, which is 43 cents higher than a week before, 52 cents more than last month, and 31 cents more than this point a year ago.
