WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO MEET TUESDAY

The Washington County Commissioners Court is scheduled to meet in special session on Tuesday morning.

Two of the items on the agenda have to do with the office of Precinct Two Justice of the Peace. The commissioners are scheduled to approve the appointment of a Justice of the Peace for Precinct Two.

Douglas Cone had stepped down from the position to run for Washington County Judge. Travis Semora was chosen to fill the seat for the remainder of the term. However, after losing the March 3 Republican primary to Holly Johnson, Semora turned in his resignation to the County.

The Commissioners are also scheduled to approve the official bond for Johnson, who will be sworn in as the Precinct Two Justice of the Peace on January 1, 2027.

Another item is the approval of an agreement between Washington County and Collier Construction for Construction Manager at Risk services for the Washington County Expo Project.

The Commissioners will also take up a couple of items regarding next month’s Bluebonnet Festival in Chappell Hill. One item is for a Mass Gathering Application, while the other is a request by the Chappell Hill Historical Society for street closings during the Festival.

In addition to that, Director of Advocacy, Alicia Rice, will be presenting the Biennial Report for the Sexual Assault Response Team.

The Washington County Commissioners Court meets on Tuesday at 9am at the Washington County Courthouse.
