Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
The Blinn College men’s basketball team was well represented on the Region 14 all-region lists as sophomore guard Dashawn Ceaser headlined the Buccaneers’ selections with a first-team nod announced Monday.
Ceaser capped a standout second season at Blinn with a breakout campaign in which he started all 31 games and led the Buccaneers with a team-best 18.1 points per contest. He averaged 17.7 points across 22 region matchups and helped guide Blinn to a 19-12 overall record and a fourth-place finish in the region standings.
Ceaser shot 48% from the field on the year, including a 47% clip against region competition. He also paced the Bucs at the free-throw line, converting 84% of his attempts overall and 86% in region play. From beyond the arc, Ceaser knocked down a team-high 51 3-pointers, including 37 in region contests.
He reached the 20-point mark 12 times during the season, with 10 of those performances coming against region opponents. Ceaser posted a season-high 34 points against New Mexico Military Institute on Nov. 20 and recorded his top region scoring effort with 32 points versus Tyler Junior College on Feb. 7.
Ceaser’s sophomore success followed a freshman campaign in which he averaged 8.8 points across 31 games (24 starts).
Also earning recognition for Blinn were freshman guards Desmeon Jones and Connor Sprattley, along with freshman forward Ian Sedah, each of whom garnered honorable mention honors on the all-region lists.
