BRENHAM PD MAKES ARRESTS FOR ASSAULT, THEFT, DWI

  

Brenham police reported five arrests on Saturday on charges including assault, theft and driving while intoxicated.

Just before 2:15 a.m., K-9 Sergeant Jimmy Ha was dispatched to the 2200 block of South Market Street in reference to a disturbance.  Police say their investigation revealed that an assault occurred and that a subject, identified as 35-year-old Jasmine McDonald of Brenham, allegedly interfered with the victim while he was calling 911.  McDonald was placed into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for Assault Family Violence and Interfering with an Emergency Request for Assistance.

Shortly after 2 p.m., Officer Rosa Salinas responded to the area of the intersection of Highway 105 and North Blue Bell Road in reference to a hit activation.  Police were able to locate the vehicle of the wanted person, later identified as 35-year-old Ronald Cubas-Escalante of Austin.  The warrant was confirmed through the Austin Police Department for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, Less Than a Gram.  Cubas-Escalante was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail.

A few minutes before 7:15 p.m., Officer Darrell Nunn Jr. was dispatched to the 200 block of Highway 290 West in reference to a theft in progress.  Investigation revealed that items were stolen from a business.  The suspect was located with the items taken from the business.  27-year-old Dharry Bailey of Sealy was taken into custody and booked at the Washington County Jail for Theft of Property Less Than $2,500 with Two or More Previous Convictions and issued a Criminal Trespass warning.

At 10:45 p.m., K-9 Sgt. Ha, Officer Nunn and Officer LeDarion Jenkins responded to the 2300 block of South Market Street in reference to a crash.  Through their investigation, police say the driver was intoxicated and in possession of narcotics.  58-year-old Stephen Knoerr of Chappell Hill was taken to the Washington County Jail for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, Less Than a Gram.

Approaching midnight, Corporal James Catchings was dispatched to the 1000 block of Bormann Street in reference to a disturbance.  During the incident, police discovered an individual identified as 45-year-old Brian Hutchens of Brenham had an active warrant out of the Austin County Sheriff’s Office for Assault Family Violence.  After the warrant was confirmed through dispatch, Hutchens was placed into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for booking.
