Americorps Seniors RSVP of Southeast Texas has named Xanna Young of Brenham as their 2025 Volunteer of the Year.

RSVP of Southeast Texas serves volunteers and communities in many local counties including: Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Colorado, Grimes, Waller, and Washington.

Mrs. Young came to Brenham 50 years ago as a young wife and mother of two children, and quickly became an active member of the community. While working in administration for several large Brenham companies, she also devoted countless hours to volunteer service.

She mentored others in her church as a teacher, bus assistant and fellowship events participant.

Young led a Girl Scout group for 11 years from second grade through graduation, volunteered for 20 years in Brenham’s public school reading programs and served over six years as a band chaperone/concession stand operator.

Fourteen years ago, she “retired,” only to begin serving full-time as a volunteer at Faith Mission logging over 2,000 hours per year. Monday through Friday, she assists administratively, welcomes visitors, and answers calls—often from people facing difficult and traumatic situations.

On hand for the presentation were Young’s family, as well as Reverend Randy Wells and Pam Mossbarger from Faith Mission.

The presentation was made as part of the annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, which was held at the Cannery Kitchen.

Rev. Wells served as the emcee for the event.
