LEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S JUNIOR DEPUTY PROGRAM ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
The Lee County Sheriff’s Junior Deputy Academy has begun accepting applications for their next session.
The Junior Deputy Academy is designed for children who have an avid interest in Law Enforcement and are eager to learn more from the deputies who serve their community.
The 2026 Junior Deputy Academy will be held on Saturday, April 18th.
All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade youth who live in and attend Lee County schools are eligible to apply. There will be a limited number of seats available.
The program consists of a full eight-hour day at the Law Enforcement Center. The children will learn about basic first-aid, cyber safety, stranger danger, bully prevention, physical fitness, patrol functions, and mock tactical operations.
Drinks, snacks, and lunch are going to be provided thanks to their generous sponsors.
A special graduation ceremony will conclude the academy at the sheriff's office for parents to attend. Each Junior Deputy will recite their new oath, be sworn-in by Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger, and receive a specially issued Junior Deputy badge.
Application deadline is April 3. Applications can be e-mailed to Administration Specialist Savana Lehmann at savana.lehmann@co.lee.tx.us, or Delivered to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Attn: Junior Deputy, 2122 FM 448, Giddings, Texas 78942
