LADY PANTHER SOFTBALL CONTINUES THEIR ROLL WITH AN 11-2 WIN OVER SOMERVILLE

The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team stayed unbeaten in District 26-2A competition after their 11-2 victory over Somerville last (Tuesday) night.

Burton scored first in the bottom of the first inning. Lexi Broesche led it off with a triple, and Natalie Hodde laid down a suicide squeeze bunt to bring her home from third. Hodde later scored on an RBI single by Amaya Williams, which gave Burton a 2-0 lead.

It would stay that way until the top of the third, when Somerville scored a run to cut the lead in half 2-1.

In the bottom of the third, Lexi Broesche walked, and she later scored on an RBI double by Williams. Leilah Ellis doubled home Williams and Aerynn Huntsman singled in Ellis to give Burton a 5-1 lead.

The Lady Yeguas scored again in the top of the fourth inning to cut the Lady Panthers' advantage to 5-2.

In the bottom of the fourth, Lexi Broesche reached on an error, Hodde singled, and then Williams brought them both home on a two-run single. Paige Fritsch walked, and Leilah was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Laci Broesche drew a bases loaded walk to score Williams. Those runs gave Burton an 8-2 lead.

The Lady Panthers tacked on three more in the bottom of the fifth inning. Hodde hit a solo home run. Williams doubled and Fritsch walked. Ellis came up, and she slugged a two-run triple to score the final two runs of the game, which made it 11-2 Burton.

Lexi Broesche picked up the win in the circle after throwing seven innings allowing just two runs, and striking out ten.

The Lady Panthers and the Lady Yeguas will go at it again on Friday at 6pm in Somerville.
