LAKE CREEK SHUTS OUT BRENHAM CUBETTE SOFTBALL 12-0

The Lake Creek Lady Lions showed last (Tuesday) night why they are the defending State Champions, and have won two of the last three state titles, as they defeated the Brenham Cubette Softball Team 12-0.

The Cubettes got things off to a positive start. Laityn Davis led off the game with a double off of the left field fence. Unfortunately for Brenham, that would be the last time anyone reached base in the game.

Lake Creek pitchers Jalynn Williams and Sara Wiggins proceeded to retire the next 15 batters in a row.

Kylie Baker got the start, and things initially went well. She retired the first seven batters that she faced. However, Lake Creek would finally break through for three runs in the bottom of the third inning.

The Lady Lions would have their biggest inning in the bottom of the fourth inning when they scored nine runs. The Cubettes went through three of their four of their pitchers Davis, Braelyn Stroesch, and Payson Gurka to get through the frame.

With the win, Lake Creek is now 22-1 on the season, and they also lead District 17-5A with a 6-0 record. Brenham is 9-12 overall and 2-4.

The Cubettes start the second half of district traveling to College Station on Friday night for a 6pm start time. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 5:35pm on 1280AM, 101.7 FM, and KWHI.com.
