PANTHER BASEBALL SQUASHES SNOOK 17-0 IN DISTRICT 26-2A ACTION
The Burton Panther Baseball Team made quick work of the Snook Blue Jays 17-0 last (Tuesday) night in District 26-2A competition.
The game lasted only two and half innings due to the 15 runs after three innings mercy rule.
Burton scored eleven runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Logun Tosta got things started for the Panthers in the bottom of the first inning with single. Later, he stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball, and scored on an RBI single by Braydon Martin.
Carter Prigge entered the game as a courtesy runner for Martin. On an attempted steal of second base, the ball was overthrown, which allowed Prigge to go to third base. Rueben Rodriguez followed with a single to bring him home. Ryder Biggs was hit by a pitch and Eli Jaeger walked to load the bases. Rodriguez scored on a sacrifice fly by Matthew Roemer. While attempting to steal third, an error allowed Biggs to come home and score. Jaeger later came home on a passed ball. At that point, Burton was ahead 5-0.
The inning continued with a walk to Houston Hodde, a single by Coy Gurka, and a walk to Tyler Witt to load the bases. Easton Witt came in to run for Tyler Witt. Hodde scored on a passed ball. Tosta reached bases for the second time in the inning when he drew a walk. Martin put the exclamation point on the board with a three-run homer. Rodriguez followed with a triple, and then came home during a rundown attempt, which gave Burton an 11-0 lead.
After a three up, and three down, top of the second inning by Snook, Burton went back to work with six more runs in the bottom of the inning.
Archer Fuller led off the frame by getting hit by a pitch, Isaac Matthies followed with a double, and Hank Majewski walked to load the bases. Coy Gurka drew a bases loaded walk to bring in Fuller. Easton Witt slugged a two-run double that scored Matthies and Majewski. Witt scored on an RBI single by Ashton Fuller. Finally, Prigge capped off the scoring with a two-run double to score Witt and Fuller. Those runs extended the Burton led to 17-0.
Tyler Witt pitched three perfect innings to get the win. He also struck out seven of the nine batters that he faced in the game.
