TWO VENTILATION CALLS TUESDAY FOR BRENHAM FD

The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls on Tuesday.

Around 7:15 a.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and Berlin Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the 1500 block of Helm Road for a report of an explosion.  Berlin firefighters made location and found a controlled burn that was not out of control and cancelled Brenham units.  A loud pop was heard when the fire started.

Approaching 11 a.m., firefighters were called out to the 100 block of Alois Lane for a chemical smell inside a residence.  They found that the homeowner had spilled some Bondo fiberglass resin, so they ventilated the home.

Shortly after 11 a.m., units responded to Brenham Junior High School, 1200 Carlee Drive, for a report of a structure fire.  Brenham and Berlin firefighters found nothing showing from the exterior of the building, and they ultimately discovered that the smoke was caused by burnt food in a microwave.  They proceeded to ventilate the building before returning to service.  No damage was done to the building.

Around 2:30 p.m., BFD personnel went out for a child locked in a vehicle in the 200 block of Highway 290 West.  They found a child in his car seat unharmed and used equipment to gain access to the vehicle.  The child was checked out by EMS.

A few minutes past 3:30 p.m., the department was dispatched for a fire alarm at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South.  Nothing was showing from the outside of the building.  Firefighters found a bad detector that caused the alarm to go off, so they reset the alarm.
