BUCCANEER WOMEN’S GOLF FINISHES 4TH AT CARDINAL CHALLENGE

The fourth-ranked Blinn College women’s golf team placed fourth at the Cardinal Challenge on Tuesday in Beaumont, Texas.
The Buccaneers shot 69-over par in the five-team tournament.
NCAA Division I program Lamar University hosted the meet at the Beaumont Country Club, which also featured DI programs Incarnate Word and Western Illinois. NCAA DII program Midwestern State won the team title at 30-over.
The Bucs finished ahead of Western Illinois and was within one stroke of third-place Lamar.
Blinn freshman Ava Murcer produced the team’s top finish. She shot 13-over (Par 72) across three rounds to finish in a three-way tie for eighth place.
Freshman Jacqueline Lawrence placed 12th at 17-over, and sophomore sisters Abiha and Daniah Syed were 15th and 16th at 20- and 21-over, respectively.
Up next for the Bucs is the two-day TXWES Spring Invitational hosted by Texas Wesleyan University beginning Monday, April 13, at the Squaw Creek Golf Course in Fort Worth, Texas.
