CITY OF BURTON TO HOST PUBLIC MEETING APRIL 22 WITH TEXAS A&M COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM

City of Burton residents and community members are invited later this month to a meeting with students from Texas A&M University’s Texas Target Communities Program.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22nd from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Burton American Legion Hall.

Students in the community engagement program have been working alongside the city on various projects with the intent of improving equitability, resiliency and adaptability.  The students will give their final presentations at the meeting.

The city entered into an agreement with the program last summer.  This semester, an urban planning class of more than 40 students has been in town working on their capstone projects.  The students have seven different focus groups: housing; transportation and mobility; economic development; parks, recreation and open space; community facilities and infrastructure; environment and resilience; and historic preservation and culture.

Guests will need to pre-register for the event.  A link to RSVP is available here and in a QR code on the event flyer.
