CUBETTE GOLF FINISHES FIFTH AT DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

The Brenham Cubette Golf Team wrapped up their season with a fifth-place finish at the District 17-5A Golf Tournament. The tournament was held over a two-day period on Wednesday and Thursday at the Margaritaville Golf Resort.

The Montgomery Lady Bears were the overall District Champions. They had a final team score of 623. The Lady Bears shot a 301 in the first round, and a 322 in the second round.

The Cubettes tied with College Station after they both finished with a two-day team score of 750. The teams played 27 holes on Wednesday, and then stopped due to rain. They picked back up on Thursday, and were able to get the final nine holes in before the next round of showers moved through.

Raylea Kunkel (So.) led the Cubettes with a two-day score of 162 (79/83), and finished as the fifth highest individual golfer at the tournament.

As one of the top two scorers not on a winning team, Kunkel will advance as an individual medalist to the Regional Tournament, which is being held April 15-16 also at Margaritaville.
