PANTHER BASEBALL SHUTS OUT MUMFORD 1-0 TO GET THE SERIES SWEEP
The Burton Panther Baseball Team, behind a strong pitching performance from Eli Jaeger, beat Mumford 1-0 last (Thursday) to sweep their series over the Mustangs.
Jaeger went 6 2/3 shutout innings, allowed only five hits, did not walk anyone, and struck out 11 batters to get the win. After reaching the UIL maximum allowable pitch count of 110, he turned it over to Easton Witt, who got the final out.
The game's lone run came in the first inning. Tyler Witt drew a leadoff walk. He later took second on an error by the Mumford catcher, and then Logun Tosta bunted him over to third base. Braydon Martin brought home on an RBI single to make it 1-0.
That would turn out to be the only run of the game.
With the win, the Panthers are now 16-3 on the season, and 5-1 in district. Next up, Burton will be traveling to Somerville on Tuesday for a 6:30pm game.
