The Burton City Council has called a special meeting for Tuesday for the purpose of hiring a new City Secretary.

The lone finalist is Amanda Klehm, who was recently a candidate back in the March 3 Primary for Washington County Precinct 2 Commissioner.

The meeting includes Klehm being introduced to the council members. They will then go into executive session, and afterwards return to open session to decide whether or not to hire her.

If approved, Klehm would take the place of former City Secretary Angela Harrington.

Harrington served the City of Burton from 2015 to 2020, and then returned in 2022.

Back in February of this year, Harrington tendered her resignation in order to spend more time with family.

The only other agenda item is a discussion on approving the final amended Fiscal Year 2025-2026 General and Utility Funds Budgets reflecting actual income and expenses for the 4th quarter of the fiscal year.

The Burton City Council meets on Tuesday at 5:30pm at the Burton City Hall.
