LADY PANTHER SOFTBALL SWEEPS EVADALE IN BI-DISTRICT SERIES

Evadale learned last (Friday) night that if you pitch to Burton's Amaya Williams, you do so at your own risk.

The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team made quick work of the Evadale Lady Rebels with a doubleheader sweep in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. Burton won the first game 17-1, and then also took the second game 15-0.

In the first game, Williams was 5 for 5 with three home runs, two doubles, five runs scored, and seven RBIs. In the second game, she hit a three-run homer, and also drew three walks.

So far on the season, Williams has a .750 batting average, an .808 on-base percentage, and a 1.829 slugging percentage, to go along with 19 homers and 74 RBIs.

The rest of the team is really good too. Back on a March 11, Burton lost to Sacred Heart, which put them at a 6-12 record. Since then, Burton has won their last 12 games in a row, and are now 18-12.

For the first game, Burton scored three runs each in the first, second, and fourth innings. They later scored eight runs in the sixth to invoke the mercy rule.

Lexi Broesche dominated in the circle. In six innings pitched, she allowed just one unearned run, on one hit, walked three, and struck out ten to get the win.

In the second game, Burton made quick work again of Evadale. Burton scored three runs in the first, five in the second, and finished it off with seven in the fourth inning.

Winning Pitcher Laci Broesche got the start, and threw a no-hitter. She went four innings, did not allow a hit or a run, while walking only one, and striking out two.
