BRENHAM PD’S TERRENCE JOHNSON RECEIVES LECOP DESIGNATION
Brenham Police Department Sergeant Terrence Johnson was recently awarded the Law Enforcement Command Officer Professional (LECOP) Designation from the Texas Police Chief’s Association (TPCA) for successfully completing the LECOP training program.
The LECOP program is designed to encourage and provide comprehensive leadership development to Texas law enforcement and to recognize those individuals who work hard to prepare themselves for leadership roles in law enforcement. The program curriculum requires the completion of 10 continuing education courses focused on a variety of law enforcement management and leadership topics.
Johnson said the program profoundly shaped his development as a leader and consistently pushed him beyond his comfort zone. He said he was also able to form genuine professional relationships and expand his network in meaningful ways. He thanked the TPCA for developing and facilitating the program, saying, “LECOP provided an environment that sharpened my leadership abilities and strengthened both my confidence and sense of direction.”
Brenham Police Chief Gary Boshears said the department is “blessed to have leaders like Sergeant Johnson who constantly display a commitment to leadership, professionalism, and lifelong learning.” He added, “Completion of this program is a significant achievement and an example for every member of our department.”
Johnson is the 189th Texas peace officer to be recognized with the LECOP designation since the program was founded. He joins Lieutenant Steven Eilert and Sergeant Jason Derrick as members of the Brenham Police Department who have been awarded the designation.
