POSSESSION OF NARCOTICS & WEAPONS, ASSAULT OF PREGNANT PERSON AMONG CHARGES FOR FIVE ARRESTED BY BRENHAM PD

  

Brenham police arrested five people between Friday and Sunday.

Shortly after 12:15 p.m. Friday, Officer Rosa Salinas conducted a traffic stop near the 1700 block of Highway 105.  Police conducted a probable cause search based on the odor of marijuana and reportedly located several items of contraband, stating they found multiple weapons and narcotics during the search.  Dispatch advised that both occupants had outstanding warrants.  The driver, 24-year-old Trushon Sweed of Washington, had three municipal warrant out of the Brenham Police Department for Driving While License Invalid, Cut In After Passing and Passing/Disregarding a No Passing Zone.  The front seat passenger, 24-year-old Nathaniel Williams of Navasota, had two warrants out of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz.  Both were taken to the Washington County Jail for their warrants and additional charges; Sweed was booked for Possession of a Dangerous Drug and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, while Williams was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3, Less Than 28 Grams and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

Just before 9 p.m., Sergeant Jimmy Ha initiated a traffic stop near the 500 block of Highway 290 West.  The passenger, 19-year-old Bryson McRae of Desoto, was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz. and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, Less Than a Gram.

Close to 10 p.m. Saturday, Officer Darrell Nunn Jr. was dispatched to the 100 block of Carrington Lane in reference to a disturbance in progress.  The ensuing investigation resulted in the arrest of 27-year-old Billy Dixon of Brenham on a charge of Assault of a Pregnant Person.  Dixon was taken to the Washington County Jail.

Nearing 9 a.m. Sunday, Officer Gabriel Duran and Officer Navone Gurley located an individual in the 800 block of Hosea Street who was known to have an outstanding warrant.  38-year-old Torrance Brooks of Brenham was located and taken into custody for an active warrant out of the Brenham Police Department for Deadly Conduct – Discharge of a Firearm.  Brooks was transported to the Washington County Jail.
