HIGHWAY 290 LANE CLOSURES FOR BRIDGE DESIGN WORK TO CONTINUE NEXT WEEK

Weather has caused delays for TxDOT’s geotechnical work for future bridge improvements on Highway 290 in Brenham, meaning temporary lane closures will persist into next week.

A TxDOT press release says crews, who were initially slated to be wrapping up tomorrow (Friday), will continue through Tuesday.  The remaining work will take place at the Business 290 bridge, as they are finished at the Old Mill Creek bridge.

To allow for any further weather delays, drivers should expect daytime lane closures to extend through Friday, May 29th.  The closures are from the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

TxDOT says the work is necessary to support the design of its cloverleaf interchange project, which is expected to be awarded in summer 2028.

Drivers should plan for possible delays during work hours and consider adjusting travel times.  They are encouraged to stay alert, follow traffic signs, and watch for workers and equipment in the area.
