WASHINGTON CO. VETERANS TO HOLD MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM MONDAY

  

The Washington County Veterans Association will pay tribute to fallen veterans at its annual Memorial Day observance on Monday.

Major Harvey H. Storms, who served in
World War II and the Korean War. He was
killed during the Battle of the Chosin
Reservoir in the Korean War. Storms'
youngest of four sons, Robert Storms, will
be the keynote speaker at the
Washington County Veterans
Association's Memorial Day program on
Monday.

The program begins at 11 a.m. at the Brenham American Legion Hall.

The featured speaker will be Robert Storms of Brenham, who will speak on the sacrifice of Gold Star families and the service of his father, Major Harvey H. Storms.

Major Storms served in the U.S. Army during World War II under General George Patton, both in North Africa and Italy.  He fought in the Korean War and was killed during the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir in December 1950, but his remains were not recovered and returned to the United States until 2018.  He was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery in July 2021. 

Local dignitaries will also share words at the ceremony.

Following the program, a barbecue pork rib and sausage meal will be served.  A limited number of meal tickets will be available at the event, but entry for the program is free.
