Acting Giddings ISD Superintendent Shane Holman has been chosen as the lone finalist for the position.

The Giddings School Board moved last week to proceed with Holman as the pick for full-time superintendent, pending a 21-day waiting period before it officially votes to hire him for the role.

Holman has served the last 30 years in Giddings ISD and 36 years in public education in total.  A Giddings High School graduate, he has served in Giddings ISD as a teacher, coach, campus administrator and assistant superintendent.  He also was previously interim superintendent in 2023 during the search that led to the hiring of Dr. Ray DeSpain, who resigned earlier this year.

Holman said it is “truly an honor and humbling experience” to be named the lone finalist, adding that Giddings ISD and the community “have meant so much to me and my family throughout our lives.”  He said, “I am grateful for the trust placed in me by the Board of Trustees, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside our outstanding staff, students, parents, and community members to build upon the strong traditions and successes of our district.”

Board President Jason Locke said the board is excited to work with Holman and confident in his ability to “continue moving Giddings ISD forward in a positive direction.”  He said Holman has dedicated many years to the district’s students, staff and families, and that, “His deep roots in our community, extensive leadership experience, and unwavering commitment to student success make him uniquely qualified to lead our district into the future.”
