GRIMES COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING MYSTERIOUS DEATH

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a mysterious death after finding a deceased person near some railroad tracks in Plantersville on Friday.

According to Sheriff Don Sowell, just before 11:45am, they received a report of a person down near the railroad tracks between County Road 202 and Planters Row Lane.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS, St. Joseph EMS, the Plantersville/Stoneham Volunteer Fire Department, and the Montgomery Fire Department responded to the area.

A deceased person was located after an extensive ground search assisted by two drones.

The Montgomery Fire Department assisted with a special ATV to help First Responders, the Justice of the Peace, and Nobles Funeral Home reach the deceased.

The person has been identified as 77-year-old Jesus Tijerina of Plantersville. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Grimes County Precinct Two Justice of the Peace Lester Underwood.

Judge Underwood ordered an autopsy, and the body was transported to the Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s office.

The family of the deceased has been notified. The investigation remains active and is being conducted jointly by the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, and Union Pacific Railroad Officials.
