AMAYA WILLIAMS NAMED TO THSCA SUPER ELITE TEAM

Amaya Williams (Burton ISD)

While she's now a Burton High School graduate, and preparing to take her softball skills to the University of St. Thomas this fall, Amaya Williams has received another postseason honor.

The Texas High School Coaches Association has named Williams to the Class 2A Softball Super Elite Team.

The Super Elite Team recognizes student athletes across the state of Texas for their exemplary athletic achievement in their respective sport.

According to the THSCA, a student athlete must be nominated by a professional member of their organization. The nomination then goes to a committee, who select the finalists.

Players selected must be of good moral character, varsity sports only, a member of the team in good standing, and excelled as an elite member of their sport.

This past season, Williams smashed almost every record in Burton High School Softball history. She finished with a .742 batting average, 23 home runs, 82 RBIs, 22 doubles, and 62 runs scored.

She helped to lead the Lady Panthers to the Regional Championship round of the playoffs.
