BCDC BOARD TO VOTE ON BUDGET ALLOCATIONS

The Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC) Board will act Monday on adopting its 2026-27 Fiscal Year budget.

The proposed budget, separated for economic development and for recreation, accounts for $1,561,495 in budgeted revenue for economic development and $1,424,889 in revenue for recreation, both driven by a projected 3 percent increase in sales tax revenue.  Funding requests being presented for consideration total $971,117.

Many of the requests come from the recreation side, with a combined $921,692 being requested for park and aquatic center items such as LED field lighting improvements, lightning detection system upgrades, and replacements and additions at the playgrounds at Fireman’s Park and Jackson Street Park.

As for the economic development-related funding requests totaling $49,425, those consist of $21,000 for Main Street Brenham’s downtown façade grant program and $28,425 for a website redevelopment and brand enhancement initiative for the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.

The BCDC Board will meet Monday at 9 a.m. in the second-floor conference room at Brenham City Hall.
