BCDC BOARD ADOPTS 2026-27 BUDGET
The Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC) Board on Monday adopted its budget for the 2026-27 Fiscal Year, outlining plans for various economic development and recreational initiatives.
The approved budget accounts for $1,561,495 in revenue for economic development and $1,424,889 in revenue for recreation. Revenue from sales taxes is projected to see a 3 percent increase from the current budget.
The largest portion of funding requests comes from recreation, as $921,692 is being allocated for park and aquatic center items like LED field lighting improvements, lightning detection system upgrades, and replacements and additions for the playgrounds at Fireman’s Park and Jackson Street Park.
Economic development-related funding items were also approved, including $21,000 for Main Street Brenham’s downtown façade grant program and $10,000 – less than the full request of $28,425 – for a website development and brand enhancement initiative for the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.
