CHAPPELL HILL CHAMBER NAMES OFFICIAL PARADE GUNNER
The Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce has announced who will serve as the official “parade gunner” for tomorrow’s (Saturday) 49th Annual Independence Day Parade.
After a week of bidding, the honor will go to 13-year-old Kaleb Stroech, son of Lucas and Chris Ann Stroech, owners of Washington County Landscapes. Kaleb earned the privilege with the winning bid of $700, which will support the ongoing work of the Chamber and help kick off the America 250: Faith, Family and Freedom parade at 10 a.m.
The cannon was custom-built by the late Russell Fisher of Chappell Hill, who, along with several friends, spent numerous hours researching historical plans and crafting the cannon that they loaned to the Chamber.
The Chamber thanks all those who participated in the auction and helped to preserve Chappell Hill’s Independence Day celebrations.
Parade check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. at Providence Street and Main Street. Check-in for the Kazoo Band starts at 9 a.m. at the porch of The Well Clinic, where commemorative t-shirts will be sold.
In addition to the parade, there will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence, food trucks, face painting, and live music from Rob Moorman and Company.
Free parking will be available at the Main Street parking lot next to the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department and the Masonic lot off of FM 2447.
