ELDERLY WASHINGTON CO. MAN FOUND SAFE AFTER SWEEPING SEARCH

  

A widespread search for an elderly man Saturday night in Washington County ended with the man’s safe finding.

The Amber Alert Network Brazos Valley said the 74-year-old man had last been seen around 6:15 p.m. Saturday in the 15000 block of William Penn Road.  The man had medical issues which prompted the issuance of a Silver Alert by DPS.

According to the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, a search and rescue operation was established at the property, which spanned over 200 acres.  Joining the effort were search dogs and helicopters.

After a search that lasted throughout the night, the man was found Sunday morning about 3.5 miles away by a neighbor, who reported he was safe and uninjured.

Numerous agencies assisted in the search from Washington and surrounding counties.  They included the Washington County Sheriff’s Office; Brenham Police Department K-9; Washington County EMS SRT and Air One; Washington County Constables; Washington County CERT; members of the Brenham, Chappell Hill, Washington, Meyersville, Prairie Hill, Rocky Creek, Salem, and Gay Hill Fire Departments; Bryan Fire Department and Bryan Search and Rescue, DPS ground and air assets, Texas Game Wardens, and Washington County 911.

The Amber Alert Network Brazos Valley also reported the safe finding of two area teens over the weekend.  One was a 14-year-old male reported missing Friday night in Brenham, and the other was a 16-year-old female that had been missing out of Somerville since mid-May.
