KELVIN RAVEN HONORED FOR 30 YEARS WITH BRENHAM POLICE DEPT.

service with the police department.
One of the Brenham Police Department’s longstanding members is celebrating a milestone of service.
Lieutenant Kelvin Raven was recognized during today’s (Thursday) city council meeting for 30 years with the Brenham Police Department.
Joining in July 1996, Raven has held numerous roles in the department, including as a patrol officer, school resource officer, sergeant, and currently operations lieutenant. He has also served as a field training officer and as part of the department’s hostage negotiations team. Outside of the department, he has been a member of the Brenham School Board since 2015.
Police Chief Gary Boshears said he does not believe there is anyone in town who does not know Raven, and that the department and Brenham as a whole are “so blessed” to have him.
Raven said he is grateful for having the opportunity to serve the Brenham community for these many years.
Mayor Atwood Kenjura thanked Raven for his service and joked that he was thankful this was not a retirement ceremony, adding, “We don’t want to see you up here for a while.”
Also at today’s meeting, the council read a pair of proclamations. One was in recognition of the Bryan-based child advocacy center Scotty’s House, declaring July 16th as Scotty’s House Day. The other honored the members of the city’s Parks and Aquatics Departments with the declaration of the month of July as Parks and Recreation Month.
