Fletcher, who served Brenham ISD band students for 32 years before retiring in 2018, was recognized at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention in San Antonio for her outstanding support of future music educators.
Since 1998, Fletcher has organized the annual Fun Run that serves to kick off the convention every year. Proceeds from the event benefit scholarships designed to support aspiring band educators across the state.
Through Fletcher’s continued leadership and dedication, this year’s Fun Run contributed $2,000 to the scholarship fund, helping provide opportunities for future teachers who will go on to lead the next generation of musicians.
Brenham ISD says Fletcher’s commitment to music education “extends far beyond the students she has personally taught.” The district adds, “Her generosity, service, and passion for supporting future band directors have created a lasting legacy throughout Texas. The Brenham band community is grateful for her many years of dedication and the countless lives she continues to touch.”
