TWO ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH CARGO THEFT

  

The Sealy Police Department has arrested two suspects following an investigation into organized cargo theft.  

The investigation began after approximately 32,000 pounds of precious metal, valued at approximately $272,000 was stolen.

Sealy Police investigators, patrol officers, K9 units and the business coordinated during the investigation.

Through this coordinated effort, officers were able to stop and detain the two suspects on July 23rd as they left the property located in the 5000 Block of the Northwest I-10 Frontage Road with the stolen cargo.

Investigators also determined that the suspects and the 18-wheeler used in the offense were connected to a similar cargo theft from the same business earlier this month.

The stolen cargo was unloaded, documented as evidence, and returned to the owner. The truck and trailer were subsequently held for possible seizure and secured in storage pending further investigation.

The use of Automated License Plate Recognition technology assisted with the investigation, which resulted in the arrest of 25-year-old Rahual Phore and 36-year-old Virender Phore.

Both were charged with Theft of Cargo Valued at $200,000 or More, a First-Degree Felony under Texas Law.

Sealy Police further stated that the investigation is still active and more charges are expected to be filed.
