HAY BALE FIRE, MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS OVER WEEKEND FOR BRENHAM FD
The Brenham Fire Department was called out seven times between Saturday and Sunday.
Around 2:15 p.m. Saturday, members of the Brenham Fire Department and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the 11400 block of FM 1371 for a report of a grass fire. Units arrived to find five hay bales on fire. Brenham and Chappell Hill firefighters put out the fire, which the Chappell Hill department reports was caused by a bad bearing in a round hay baler.
A few minutes after 2:45 p.m., the Brenham department received a report of a fire alarm at a home in the 1000 block of Robinhood Road. Nothing was showing from the outside of the residence, and it was determined that the homeowner accidentally set the alarm off, so the alarm was reset.
Another fire alarm was called in at 9:15 p.m. at the Super 8 by Wyndham, 2209 Highway 290 East. Nothing was found from the exterior of the building, and firefighters learned that the alarm went off due to a resident cooking in their room. The alarm was reset, and the fire department cleared the call.
Just before 11:30 a.m. Sunday, BFD personnel responded to a crash in the 400 block of Highway 290 West. They found a two-vehicle accident with minor damage. No one was injured and no fluids were leaking, so they returned to service.
Around 2:30 p.m., another transportation incident was called in on Highway 290 West at the Dairy Queen. Firefighters found a two-vehicle accident with minor damage. There were no injuries or fluids leaking.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., units went out for a fire alarm at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street. After finding nothing showing from the outside of the building, they found a resident had pulled the fire alarm, so they reset the alarm and returned to the station.
Approaching 9 p.m., a transportation incident was reported from the 1100 block of Old Mill Creek Road. The fire department found a single-vehicle accident with minor damage, no injuries and no fluids leaking.
