SNOOK FOOTBALL PREVIEW

The Snook Blue Jay Football Team has been going through a tough stretch of football. Last season, after injuries took their toll on the Blue Jays, their program dropped down to only 13 healthy players.

That lead to them forfeiting the rest of their varsity schedule after just playing in just four games.

This season, Snook is hoping to start turning it around. They have brought back Matt Kana to be their new head coach. Kana was the defensive coordinator during the program's best run from 2019-2021. which included a district championship in 2020.

The Blue Jays will be in District 13-2A Division II along with Bartlett, Bremond, Burton, Chilton, Holland, Milano, and Somerville.

Dave Campbell's Texas Football has Bremond in first place in the district, and in first place in the state for Class 2A Division II. Chilton is picked to finish second in district and ninth in the state. Burton is picked to finish third in district, and 20th in the state.

Then, they have Somerville at fourth, Holland at fifth, Bartlett at sixth, Milano at seventh, and Snook at eighth.

According to DCTF, the Players to Watch Snook include OL/DL Ramiro Martinez, WR/DB John Carr, OL/DL Noel Lara, RB/LB Ke'Treen Carter, RB/LB Michael Eaton, and OL/DL Jenson Weaver-Jakubik.

The top juniors on the team include athletes Wyatt Lopez and Brayden Macik.

The top sophomore is Ol/DL Le'Narious Crawford.

Other prospects include FB/LB Chris Gomez and WR/DB Brent Turner.

The Blue Jays are scheduled to scrimmage Bruceville Eddy on the road this Thursday at 6:30pm.
