WASHINGTON CO. APPOINTS NEW ELECTIONS ADMINISTRATOR

  

Washington County has a new elections administrator.

County commissioners met today (Tuesday) to acknowledge the Washington County Elections Commission’s appointment of Jennifer Gajeske and to approve her official bond and salary for the position.

Gajeske has served as an elections administrator clerk since joining Washington County in August 2025.  She also assisted for several years at the central counting station on election night. 

Gajeske thanked the elections commission and commissioners court for this opportunity and said she looks forward to the future with the county.  She also thanked her family and friends, as well as retired elections administrator Carol Jackson, for their continued support.

Gajeske’s annual estimated salary was approved at $66,468.

In other election-related business, the court approved the list and order of appointments for election judges and alternates, the central counting station manager, tabulation supervisor and tabulation assistants for two-year terms. 

Also at today’s meeting, commissioners approved a ground ambulance transportation addendum to the air medical transportation services preferred provider agreement with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Brenham for non-emergent transports, being added to the March 24, 2020 agreement.

EMS Director Taylor Leonard said the agreement pertains to transports within the city of Brenham, between the hospital and the clinic, and is meant to keep from having to transfer any patients outside to College Station. 

Other items from today include:

• Conditional approval of the 2026 Scarecrow Music Festival right-of-way and mass gathering permit applications, contingent upon receiving all necessary signatures.
• The reading of a proclamation recognizing the month of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Washington County and supporting the Color Brazos Valley Gold initiative.
