BURLESON COUNTY FAIR ACTIVITIES GET UNDERWAY WITH THE PARADE ON SATURDAY
The Burleson County Fair is scheduled to begin tomorrow (Saturday) morning with the annual Fair Parade through Downtown Caldwell.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 10am. Participants are asked to lineup by 9am. Look for KTEX 106’s Courtney Cartwright, who will be out there broadcasting live in the KTEX Country Cruiser.
Also on Saturday, the Burleson County Fair Queen Candidates are reminded that their fair membership tickets are due that evening by 6pm.
On Sunday, they will have the Little Miss Contest at 5pm. This year, they have 22 contestants participating. That will be followed by the Baked Goods Auction, and then the Fair Queen’s Contest.
This year’s Fair Queen Contest has two young ladies vying for the crown. Kalyn Cooper, the 17-year-old daughter of Terah Cooper of Snook, is representing the Snook 4-H, and Jolee Telschow, the 17-year-old daughter of Brandon and Ashlee Telschow of Caldwell, is representing the Deanville 4-H.
Contestants have a chance to earn up to 200 points. Criteria include fair membership sales, stage presence, biography, a pre-determined interview question, and a secret interview question.
The Pride of Texas Carnival runs Wednesday to next Saturday at the Burleson County Fairgrounds in Caldwell. Tickets are $15 on Wednesday before 5pm, and free after 5pm for Family Night. Tickets on Thursday are $15 each, but just $2 for Seniors on Senior Citizens Day. On Friday and Saturday, tickets are $20 before 6pm, and $30 after 6pm. Children eight years old and under get in for free.
Parking is limited at the Fairgrounds, so a shuttle bus service will be running on a regular basis from Downtown Caldwell.
Musical entertainment begins on Thursday night with the South Texas Homies for Tejano Night from 8-10pm.
On Friday night, they will have the Crossroads Band from 7:30-9:30pm, and the Frontmen from 10-11:30pm. The Frontmen are a trio that consists of former Little Texas lead singer Tim Rushlow, former Restless Heart leader singer Larry Stewart, and former Lonestar lead singer Richie McDonald.
Saturday’s entertainment begins with Hank Weaver from 7-8:30pm, Josh Ward from 9-10:30pm, and Kevin Fowler from 11pm-12:30am.
Meanwhile, other fair events include the livestock judging, which will be going on from Wednesday thru Friday, the commercial heifer sale is on Friday beginning at 6pm, and the Youth Livestock Auction will be next Saturday starting at 5pm.
