Washington County leaders recently took part in a demonstration to showcase an all-electric aircraft and learn about its potential applications for local first responders.

Washington County EMS has partnered with Metro Aviation since 2022 for air ambulance services.  According to a press release, Metro and BETA Technologies brought BETA’s ALIA CX300 aircraft to the Brenham Municipal Airport for local officials to observe a flight and see how the aircraft could support emergency response, medical logistics, disaster relief and rural communities.

With the demonstration, Brenham served as the site of BETA’s first eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP) flight in Texas.

EMS Director Taylor Leonard said the department is “incredibly grateful to be partnered with Metro, and have the ability to contribute to this project.”

Metro Vice President Todd Stanberry said, “Washington County EMS performs a critical mission every day, and this demonstration gave their team a firsthand look at technology that could potentially support missions like theirs in the future.”
